The Ph.D. Program in Empowerment Informatics (EMP) held an orientation for new students entering in the 2015 academic year.

On April 7, 2015 the Ph.D. Program in Empowerment Informatics (EMP) held an orientation for new students entering in the 2015 academic year. The orientation was attended by 15 new EMP students together with Program faculty, EMP administrative staff, and others.

In the orientation, EMP Program Leader Prof. Hiroo Iwata made some introductory remarks and then introduced Program faculty, after which the new students introduced themselves. Next, Prof. Hideaki Kuzuoka, Curriculum Committee Chair, described the curriculum, Prof. Masahiko Morita, Degree Review Committee Chair, described matters including the Qualifying Examination and the Assessments of Student Achievement, and Associate Prof. Yoshinari Kameda, Student Support Committee Chair, described student life and other aspects of the program. Lastly, Associate Prof. Kenji Suzuki, Secretary General, served as emcee as the new students were provided with information on their new lives as EMP students.

Since new international students will join the program this year, the orientation was conducted as a bilingual program, with a separate briefing held for entering international students.
