Prof. Caroline Hummels of the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands visited the Program during a visit to Japan.

On Friday, May 22, 2015, Prof. Caroline Hummels of the Department of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, an external faculty member of the Ph.D. Program in Empowerment Informatics (EMP), visited the Program’s base facility of the Empowerment Studio during a visit to Japan. During this visit, Prof. Hummels interviewed the Program faculty members Prof. Toshimasa Yamanaka (Faculty of Art & Design) and Associate Prof. Kenji Suzuki (Faculty of Engineering, Systems and Information) and then took part in informal discussions with EMP students. Five students took part in the informal discussions, which included a lecture on Prof. Hummels’ specialization and a tour of research equipment. This proved a very valuable opportunity to speak with Prof. Hummels directly on subjects such as possibilities for future overseas activities and questions about research.
