John Brumley invited to exhibit his work Guattari Hero at Videogames: Design / Play / Disrupt.

5th-year student John Brumley was invited to exhibit his work Guattari Hero at Videogames: Design / Play / Disrupt, held September 8, 2018 – February 24, 2019 in London.

Beginning this September and continuing through February, one of my projects will be included in the Victoria and Albert Museum of London’s Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt exhibition. The exhibition aims to explore the medium of video games since the mid-2000s, emphasizing the expanded role and influence that games have had in culture. The project will be included as part of a collection of games in the UCLA Game Lab’s Arcade Backpack device. Created to “infiltrate public space,” this device is a portable game center machine carried on a person’s back. My game, Guattari Hero, converts the two-dimensional experience of navigating a website into a 3D landscape that users must jump across to find the next page.
