The Empowerment Studio has been unveiled upon completion of its construction.

About 90 people attended the official unveiling of the Empowerment Studio, the base facility of the Ph.D. Program in Empowerment Informatics (EMP), held for related parties and members of the University community following completion of construction on the facility Tuesday, May 12, 2015.

Emceed by EMP Program Leader Prof. Hiroo Iwata, the unveiling began with some opening remarks by Kyosuke Nagata, President of the University of Tsukuba, and Yuichi Ohta, Program Director, after which President Nagata, Vice President for Education Makoto Ito, Vice President and Executive Director for Finance and Facilities Akira Yoshikawa, Vice President for Student Affairs Shin-ichi Tamagawa, and Program Director Ohta took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

After that, Program Leader Iwata led attendees on a tour of the Studio and demonstrated the Torus Treadmill, one device on exhibit at the Studio, and gave them an opportunity to try it out. Lastly, Vice President and Executive Director for General Affairs and Human Resource Development and EMP sub-leader of the Harmony area Toshiyuki Inagaki made some remarks. This unveiling proved an excellent opportunity to thank related parties for their support through the Studio’s completion and to publicize the Studio’s future use.
