Report on exhibiting at SPECULUM ARTIUM 2015

The work “IrukaTact” by third-year student Aisen Carolina Chacin and first-year student Takeshi Ozu and “CHILDHOOD,” a work by second-year students Jun Nishida, Kosuke Sato, and Hikaru Takatori, were invited exhibits at SPECULUM ARTIUM 2015, a media art festival held October 15-17, 2015 in Trbovlje, Slovenia. Third-year student Masa Jazbec also took part in management of the festival.

Speculum Artium was held in the Delavski dom Trbovlje from October 15-17, 2015. It was curated and organized by Maša Jazbec, Alenka Prezelj, and Andrej Uduc. (link: Http://Speculumartium.Si/?Page_id=1202andolang=en #Aisen )

This festival was extremely well organized and had a fantastic space to be held. People from all over the country of Slovenia came in buses to see the exhibition with spectators of all ages. The staff at Delavski dom was well prepared, I felt very happy to show my Work in this event. The artist Selection was very high quality, including works from Boris Pertrovsky and Notably “The Machine to be Anoter”. (link: Http://Www.Themachinetobeanother.Org/) They are a Collective of about 8 People, and Two of the Founding members came to the Exhibition. One of Them Daniel González Franco (link: Http://Www.Sciopod.Com/) is interested in joining EMP. He is very talented and interested in VR Research from an empathetic and disembodiment point of view. I would like to introduce him to Iwata Sensei, in the hopes that he can become part of our program.

I was also very impressed with the outreach of the Speculum Artium team, as we had very important officials come to the opening ceremony including the Mayor of Trbovlje. The cultural affairs director of the US Embassy in Slovenia also came to see the exhibition, and met with me personally to experience my work. They also provided some support to the festival, which seems like a promising funding ally for future events.

This time I installed a simplified version of IrukaTact, with only one tank testing unit, given that Yamada Sensei was kind to take the rest of the exhibit from the Ars Electronica Festival.
