Title: “Benefits and Potential Challenges of Internationalizing Higher Education: Taiwan Experiences”

Abstract: As globalization has become increasingly prevalent, due to growing demand for a knowledge-based society, campus internationalization has become a hot topic among higher education institutions worldwide. Asian countries such as Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea are no exception to this demand. In order to promote internationalization, universities and colleges have developed their internationalization approaches by introducing new types of global programs, increasingly admitting international students, and launching joint research projects with foreign universities. Globalization has been a key factor in the acceleration of campus internationalization among U.S. universities. This presentation will cover a case study of these approaches by examining how national universities in Taiwan are coping with globalization.
