Interdisciplinary Workshop for Leading Students 2017 (IW4LS2017)出席報告
2017年4月8日（土）に豊橋技術科学大学で開催されたInterdisciplinary Workshop for Leading Students 2017 (IW4LS2017)にEMP新入生6名、3年次生6名、４年次生3名が参加しました。本ワークショップは分野横断型（情報）リーディングの今後の連携強化、学生交流を目的としたもので、豊橋技術科学大学「超大規模脳情報を高度に技術するブレイン情報アーキテクトの育成」、早稲田大学「実体情報学博士プログラム」、名古屋大学「実世界データ循環学リーダー人材養成プログラム」、筑波大学「エンパワーメント情報学プログラム」、の4大学リーディングの学生及び教員職員106名が集まり、お互いのリーディングの紹介や、今後の連携に関するディスカッションを行いました。
ワークショップでは主催者による挨拶の後、各大学のプログラム紹介が学生により行われました。その後、4年次生は研究紹介のポスターセッションを、その他はチームに分かれ、「リーディングプログラム履修生の知見を組み合わせ、 ○○に××をアピールするプロジェクトを提案せよ」というテーマでグループディスカッションを実施しました。 最後に、学生はチームごとにまとめたプロジェクト提案を発表・議論し、投票により3年次 大図 岳さん、1年 次杉本 実夏さんの両名が所属するチームがBest Proposal Awardを受賞しました。
私のチームでは食事においてしばしば見られる咀嚼音の不快さ・不適切さに着目し、不快さを適切に相手へ伝達するシステムの提案を行いました。チーム上級生として3時間足らずの短い議論のもとコンセプトを提示することは出来ましたが、実現可能性や問題自体の定義付けや目的が曖昧になることもあり、自身の日頃のトレーニング不足を実感する一方、同じ情報系リーディングといえども、様々な分野なりの考えや知見があり、それらの片鱗を感じ得ることができたのは、大変良い時間であったと思います。
昨々年度もIW4LSに参加しましたが、当時のチームメンバーや友人とも研究に限らず意見交換を行うことができ、継続的な情報系リーディング学生の交流会としても良い経験が得られました。
私のチームでは、グループのメンバーの知見を集めた「ウェアラブル傘」の提案を行いました。この提案では、日本で顕著な傘の盗難や置き忘れといった問題への解決手法として、腕に巻きついて持ち主を生体認証する、腕輪状に畳める傘を提案しました。また、プレゼンテーションでは図や言葉だけではなく、冒頭で問題の事例を演じるなどの工夫を行い、Best Proposal Awardを受賞することができました。このことは、チームで協力して、聴衆に提案を伝えるための魅せ方力を発揮できたためと考えています。IW4LS2017は他のリーディング大学院の学生とのネットワークを形成し、近い領域の研究を行う学生と問題意識を共有するための貴重な機会となりました。
The interdisciplinary workshop for leading students (IW4LS) brings students from different fields of research together and provides a framework to foster multidisciplinary, international and goal-driven teamwork. All participants were randomly grouped to discuss and come up with a research proposal that benefits society. The proposed project of my group was to resocialize hikikomori (people who don’t leave their houses or strictly avoid social interaction) and get them to leave their isolation. To achieve our goal we proposed a social game which requires the players to go outside and do real world tasks to advance within the game. After the final presentation projects were ranked by the participants and our project got 3rd place. Despite the aspect of networking and collaborating, we were able to exchange some of our ideas and goals and had the chance to visit laboratories outside of our usual research fields. The reception event in the evening was also interesting, especially for me as international student. During that event I was able to talk with other Japanese students in an informal more relaxed environment.
